Solution

Fan paper thoroughly

Fan paper prior to inserting it into the Auto Sheet Feeder (ASF) or the cassette.

Auto Sheet Feeder (ASF):

  1. Remove paper from the ASF.

  2. Divide the stack of paper into two or three piles.

  3. Fan out the sheets of paper so that they do not stick together.



  4. Load a few sheets of letter or A4-sized paper (print side facing up) into the ASF (1).



  5. Pinch and adjust the paper guide to the width of the stack (2).

  6. Press the <Open> button and pull out the extension completely.



  7. Press the <Feed Switch> button to turn on the Cassette light.

Cassette:

  1. Pull out the cassette from the machine.

  2. Fan out the sheets of paper so that they do not stick together.

  3. Align the edges of the paper.



  4. Load paper on the upper-right corner of the cassette with the print side facing down.

    Note:
    * Since the Credit Card sized paper, Canon Photo Stickers, and Legal sized paper cannot be fed from the cassette, load them in the auto sheet feeder (ASF).
    * When loading A5 or larger sized paper (nonstandard-size paper: 203mm / 8inches or more in length), extend the cassette by pinching the tab.

  5. Grasp the paper guide (A) and align it to the long edge of the stack (2). Align the front edge of the paper stack in the same way (3).



  6. Push the cassette all the way into the printer.

  7. Press the <Open> button and pull out the extension completely.



  8. Press the <Feed Switch> button to turn on the Cassette light.

    Note:
    If the Auto Sheet Feeder lamp lights, press the Feed Switch button to light the Cassette lamp.
    If the Cassette lamp does not light even after pressing the Feed Switch button, Paper Source in the printer driver may be set to the setting other than the Feed Switch button.
