Reseat or replace the ink cartridge

The printer does not recognize the installed ink cartridge. Either the ink cartridge is not seated properly or it is damaged.

Note: If an ink cartridge is not installed, the power light will flash continuously.

Solution:

1. Turn the printer off and disconnect the parallel cable from the printer.
   
   

2. Turn the printer on and open the front cover of the printer.
   
   

3. Release the locking lever that holds the cartridge in place.
   
   

4. Remove the cartridge from the printer and inspect it for damage or packing materials that may not have been removed.
   
   

5. Reseat the cartridge, let go of it, and lock the locking lever.
   
   

6. Turn the printer off, then back on again.

If the power light continues to blink after the printer has initialized, replacement of the ink cartridge may be necessary.
