Preparing to Scan Film (LiDE 600F)
This scanner can scan 35 mm film strips six (6) frames at a time. Use the following procedures to place the Film Adapter Unit and the Film Guide on the document glass, and to insert the film in the Film Guide.

- Make sure the document glass is wiped clean before placing the film adapter unit on the scanner.
- Handle the film adapter unit carefully to avoid damaging the glass panel.
- Handle film strips carefully to avoid scratching or leaving fingerprints on them.
- You cannot scan film with the scanner in the upright position.

Preparing the Film Guide

Open the film adapter unit by the center latch and remove the protective cloth. Detach the cable from the retainers on the side of the film adapter unit.

The cable retainers appear to be along the back side of the FAU. This is simply to secure the cable in place when the FAU is not being used. |

Once the protective cloth has been removed, the FAU will look like the picture below.
Next close the cover to the FAU.

Open the document cover on the scanner and set the film adapter unit on the document glass. Align the dots on the film adapter unit and the dots on the scanner (labeled [FAU]) to set the unit in place. |

Connect the cable to the connector on the side panel of the scanner, then gently close the document cover. |

Once the preparations for film scanning are complete, use the following procedures to position the Film Adapter Unit over the frame you wish to scan.

With the scanner document cover open, open the film adapter unit. Place a film strip in the film guide of the film adapter unit, so that the borderlines between frames are aligned with the guidelines on the film guide. |

Do not block the calibration slot on the film guide when scanning film. Colors will not be scanned correctly if the calibration slot is obstructed. |

Close the film adapter unit until it clicks, and then gently close the document cover. |
