1. Open the printer driver setup window, and click 'Power Off' on the Maintenance tab.

To open the Printer Preferences / Properties:

For Windows 7

  • Click the 'Start' button from the bottom left of the Windows screen, and then click on 'Devices and Printers'.
  • Click your right mouse button on the listing for your printer, and then select 'Printing Preferences' from the menu that appears.

For Windows Vista

  • Click / Select the 'Start' from the bottom left of the Windows screen, 'Control Panel', 'Hardware and Sound', and then click on 'Printers'. Note: If you are in 'Classic' view, click 'Printers' directly from the 'Control Panel'.
  • Click your right mouse button on the listing for your printer, and then select 'Preferences' from the menu that appears.

For Windows XP Home Edition

  • Click / Select the 'Start' button from the bottom left of the Windows screen, 'Control Panel,' 'Printers and Other Hardware,' and 'Printers and Faxes.'
  • Click your right mouse button on the listing for your printer, and then select 'Preferences' from the menu that appears.

For Windows XP Professional Edition

  • Click 'Start' from the bottom left of the Windows screen, and 'Printers and Faxes.'
  • Click your right mouse button on the listing for your printer, and then select 'Preferences' from the menu that appears.

For Windows 2000

  • Click / Select 'Start' from the bottom left of the Windows screen, and 'Settings,' then 'Printers.'
  • Click your right mouse button on the listing for your printer, and then select 'Properties' from the menu that appears.

2. Click 'OK' when the confirmation message appears.

The Maintenance tab is displayed again.

Auto Power

The Auto Power Off function automatically turns off the printer when print data has not been received from the computer for a specified period of time.

The Auto Power On function automatically turns on the printer upon reception of print data.

1. Open the printer driver setup window, and click 'Auto Power' on the Maintenance tab. The Auto Power Settings dialog box opens.

2. If necessary, complete the following settings:

Auto Power On

Specifying 'Enable' from the list will turn the printer on upon receipt of print data.

Auto Power Off

Specify time from the list. If this time lapses without receiving any print data, the printer is turned off automatically.

3. Make sure that the printer is on, and then click 'Send'.

4. Click 'OK' when the confirmation message appears.

The Maintenance tab is displayed again.

The Auto Power On/Off function is enabled. If you want to disable this functions, select 'Disable' from the list.

Note: In Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP and Windows 2000, users who have not been granted access permission for printer management cannot select Power Off or change the Auto Power setting. The same applies when the setup screen is opened from a software application.
