Use Booklet Printing (Windows)

Booklet Printing is a type of layout printing in which four pages of an original document are printed on either side of a single page. The print order is set automatically. This is very useful for creating booklets. The printed pages are simply folded in half and stapled together at the center to create a booklet.

Note: The Booklet Printing function is not available when any of the following functions or options is selected:

  • Borderless Printing

  • See Printing with Borderless Printing

  • Print media other than Plain Paper is selected for Media Type.

  • Background Printing is disabled (In Windows Me or Windows 98)

It is easy to confirm whether background printing is in progress. Open the printer driver's Properties dialog box, select Page Setup and click Printer Control.

Photographs are unsuitable for Booklet Printing, as the image is usually visible on the other side. Moreover the paper may absorb too much ink and become wavy. This may cause the printed surface to become scratched.

  1. Select the command you use to perform printing from the program you are using. (In general, select 'Print' on the File menu to open the Print dialog box.)

  2. Select your model name and click 'Preferences' (or 'Properties'). The printer driver setup window appears.

  3. Click the Page Setup tab.

  4. Specify the Booklet Printing settings.

    (1) Select 'Booklet Printing'.

Note: If 'Plain Paper' is not selected as the Media Type on the Main tab, the 'Booklet' option will not appear.

    (2) Click the 'Specify' button. The Booklet Printing dialog box opens.

    (3) Select the Margin for stapling to use when assembling booklet.

    (4) Select this check box to insert blank pages.

    (5) Specify the margin.

    (6) Select this check box to create borders around the pages.

  5. Click 'OK'.

  6. Click 'OK' on the Page Setup tab.

  7. Once completed, follow the on-screen instructions by turning over the pages and reloading them to the sheet feeder, then click 'OK'. Printing of the other side of the booklet pages begins.
