Solution

Red-Eye Correction Function

You can automatically correct red eye in images taken with the flash.

1. Select [Flash Settings] from the [MENU].

2. Adjust the setting to set [Red-Eye Corr.] to [On].

Red-Eye correction may be applied to other red parts than red eyes. For example, when red make-up has been used around eyes.

You can also correct red eyes in recorded images. However, red eyes may not be automatically detected in some images or the results may not turn out as you intended.

Examples:

- Faces near the screen edges or faces that appear extremely small, large, dark or bright in relation to the overall image.

- Faces turned to the side or at a diagonal, or faces with a portion hidden.

1. In the (Play) Menu choose (Red-Eye Correction).

2. Select the image you wish to perform the Red-Eye Correction with by using the or and press the <FUNC./SET> button.

- A frame will be displayed automatically at the position where red-eye is to be corrected.

- If red-eye is not automatically detected, select [Add Frame] with the or button and press <FUNC./SET> button. (For [Add Frame] instructions click Add Corrected Frame / Manual Correction )

3. Press the <FUNC./SET> button, the red-eye detected by the camera will be corrected and a frame will appear around the corrected portion.

4. Select [New File] or [Overwrite] and press the <FUNC./SET>.

- [New File]: Saved as new file with a new name. The uncorrected image is stored. The new image is stored as the last file.

- [Overwrite]: Saved with the same file name as the uncorrected image. The uncorrected image is erased.

- When [New File] is selected, proceed to the next step.

5. Press the <MENU> button and select [Yes] or [No], and then press the <FUNC./SET> button

- Selecting [Yes] displays the corrected image, while [No] returns you to the Play menu.

  • Red-eye correction cannot be performed on movies.
  • Overwriting cannot be performed on protected images.
  • When there is not enough space left on the memory card, red-eye correction cannot be performed.
  • Although you can apply red eye correction any number of times to an image, the image quality will gradually deteriorate with each application.
  • Since the correction frame will not appear automatically on images that have already been corrected once with the (Red-Eye Correction) function, use the [Add Frame] option to correct them.
