Learn how to access and run the Canon IJ Network Tool that enables you to display and modify your PIXMA printer network settings.

Solution

The Canon IJ Network Tool is a utility that is installed when the printer is set up for network use.

To get started find your operating system below and follow the steps:

  1. OS X
  2. Windows
     

Caution Caution

  • Do not start up the Canon IJ Network Tool while printing.

  • Do not print when the Canon IJ Network Tool is running.

  • If the firewall function of your security software is turned on, a message may appear warning that Canon software is attempting to access the network. If the warning message appears, set the security software to always allow access.
     

Start up Canon IJ Network Tool

1. For OS X®

  1. Browse to the Library\Printers\Canon\BJPrinter\Utilities folder and double-click Canon IJ Network Tool.

    Note The path may be different if the latest IJ Network Tool is installed:

  • From the Go menu in Finder, select Applications, then double-click the Canon Utilities folder, IJ Network Tool folder, then Canon IJ Network Tool icon.

  • If the IJ Network Tool is not installed, click here.

  1. Type the model name of your printer in the box. Another box will appear with the name of your printer as you type in the model name. Click on the model name of your printer.

  1. Click Go.

  2. On the next page, click Drivers & Downloads.

  1. Then, click the Software tab.

  2. Click Next to the listing for the IJ Network Tool.

  3. Then, click Download.

  4. After the file downloaded, open and install the IJ Network Tool.

  5. Follow any on-screen instructions.
     

2. For Windows

  1. Double-click the Canon IJ Network Tool shortcut icon on the desktop.

  2. Click Start and select All programs (or Programs), Canon IJ Network Utilities, Canon IJ Network Tool, and then Canon IJ Network Tool.
    Note If a shortcut for the IJ Network Tool is not on your desktop, it can be found in the following location:
          C:\Program Files (x86)\Canon\Canon IJ Network Tool\CNMNPUT.EXE

  • If the IJ Network Tool is not installed, you will need to reinstall the drivers for your printer.  Click here.
