How to clean the paper feed rollers

Cleaning the paper feed roller could resolve your printing problem.

Note: Since cleaning the paper feed rollers causes wear on the rollers, perform this procedure only when necessary.

1. Make sure that the power is turned on, and remove any paper in the printer.
    
2. Open the Front Tray gently, and pull out the Front Tray Extension.
    
3. Open the Canon IJ Printer Utility:
   
   -Open System Preferences, and click Print & Fax.
   -Select your printer's name in Printers, and click 'Open Print Queue'.
   -Click the 'Utility' button.
   -Select your printer's name in the Product list, and click 'Maintenance'.
4. Clean the Paper Feed Roller.
   
   (1) Make sure that Cleaning is selected in the pop-up menu.
   
   (2) Click 'Roller Cleaning'.
   
   
   
   (3) Confirm the displayed message, and click 'OK'. The Paper Feed Roller will rotate as it is cleaned..
   
   
    
5. Make sure that the Paper Feed Roller stops rotating. When the message appears, load three sheets of A4 or Letter-sized plain paper in the Rear Tray
    
6. Confirm the displayed message, and click 'OK'. The paper that is loaded in the printer will feed through the printer and be ejected. Do not perform any other operations until the printer completes the cleaning of the Paper Feed Roller.
