Dial Tone Detect
If the phone cord is improperly connected to the fax machine or the fax machine is not connected to the telephone jack on the wall and [Dial tone detect] option is enabled, the send fax transaction will be terminated. Click here to check [Dial tone detect] setting.
Fax Connection
- Connect one end of the supplied phone cord to the phone port "L" on the fax machine.
- Connect the other end of the phone cord to the the phone jack on the wall.
Note: Connect a telephone or answering machine to the external device port 
on the fax machine.
Dial tone detect
1. Press the <FAX> button, then press the <Menu> button . The Fax menu is displayed.

Settings, then press the
OK button.
The Settings screen is displayed.
3. Press the

button to select
Device settings, then press the
OK button.
The Device settings screen is displayed.
4. Press the
or
button to select
FAX settings, then press the
OK button.
The FAX settings screen is displayed.
5. Press the or button to select Transmission settings, then press the OK button.
6. Press the or button to select [Dial tone detect], then press <OK>.
7. Press the or button to select [ON] or [OFF], then press <OK>.
Note: The default setting is [OFF].
Press the <Fax> button to return to Fax standby mode.
