Install the XPS Printer Driver

Follow the steps below to install the XPS driver in Windows 7.

If the driver pre-installed in Windows (hereinafter called pre-installed driver) and the Canon-made driver have already been installed in your computer, let's uninstall of them. Follow the procedures below to uninstall them.

Uninstall the existing printer driver

  1. Disconnect the USB cable from the printer.

  2. In Devices and Printers, right-click the icon for your printer, then select 'Remove device.'

  3. Click the 'Print server properties' button at the top of the screen, then select the 'Drivers' tab. 'Print server properties' can be displayed at the top of the dialog as shown below by clicking any device icon in Printers and Faxes.



  4. Select the applicable model, then click 'Remove.'



  5. In the Remove Driver And Package window, click 'Remove driver and driver package.'



Install the XPS Driver

The PIXMA Pro9000 is used as an example for the XPS printer driver installation in the Windows 7 environment.

  1. Install the printer driver before installing the XPS driver.
    (1) Download the printer driver from our Web site. Select Windows 7 as the Operating System, and, depending on your version of Windows 7, select either the 32 or 64 bit version.
    (2) Double-click the downloaded file to begin the installation and follow the on-screen instructions.
    (3) In the Installation Complete window, click 'Complete'.
  2. Install XPS printer driver.

    (1) Download the Windows 7 XPS driver from our Web site. Depending on your version of Windows 7, use either the 32 or 64 bit version.

    (2) Double-click the downloaded file to begin the installation.

    (3) When the Program Compatibility Assistant window is displayed after the installation, click 'This program install correctly.'
