External microphones that can be connected to EOS-1D Mark IV for stereo sound recording

Article ID: ART129466 | Date published: 05/12/2015 | Date last updated: 08/17/2015

Solution

Stereo sound recording is possible by connecting an external microphone equipped with a stereo mini plug (3.5mm dia.) to the camera's external microphone IN terminal. Do not connect the camera's external microphone IN terminal to anything other than an external microphone.

Note:
  • The sound recording level will be adjusted automatically.
  • The camera's built-in microphone will also pick up camera operation noise. If you use a commercially-available external microphone, you can prevent (or reduce) these noises from being recorded.
