Checking the Current Ink Level

You can check the detailed information such as the remaining ink level and the ink tank types of your model.

You can confirm the status of each ink tank with the Canon IJ Printer Utility (Macintosh).

(A) Check if any symbol appears on the screen.

The ink with (Ink low) is running low. You can continue printing for a while, but we recommend you to have a new ink tank available.

1. Open the Canon IJ Printer Utility dialog box.
   
   
2. Select Ink Level Information in the pop-up menu.
   
   1. An illustration of the ink types and their status is displayed.
      
   2. If a warning or error related to the remaining ink level occurs, the print driver displays an icon to let you know.
      
   3. In such cases, take the appropriate action as described.
      
      
3. If necessary, click Ink Details button.
   You can check ink-related information.
   
   Note:
   
   • Click About Ink to check which ink tank your model uses.
   • Click Update to display the latest ink level.

Canon IJ Printer Utility

If you are using Mac OS X v.10.6.x or Mac OS X v.10.5.x

1. Open System Preferences, and select Print & Fax.
   
   
2. Display the printer list
   
   • If you are using Mac OS X v.10.6.x.
     
     1. Select your model from the Printers list, and click Options & Supplies.
        
     2. Click Open Printer Utility in Utility tab.
        
   • If you are using Mac OS X v.10.5.x.
     
     1. Select your model from the Printers list, and click Open Print Queue.
        
     2. Click Utility when a list of print jobs is displayed.
        A printer list is displayed.
        
        
3. Select the printer.
   
   1. Select the model you use from Product, and click Maintenance.
      
   2. Canon IJ Printer Utility will be launched.
      
      Note: To open the Canon IJ Printer Utility, turn on the machine and make sure that it is connected to the computer with a USB cable.

If you are using Mac OS X v.10.4.11.

1. Launch the Printer Setup Utility.
   
   1. Select Applications from the Go menu of Finder, double-click the Utilities folder, and then double-click the Printer Setup Utility icon.
      
   2. The Printer Setup Utility is launched and the printer list appears.
      
      
2. Select the printer.
   
   1. Select the model to be used from Name in the printer list, and click Utility.
      
   2. Select the model you use from Product, and click Maintenance.
      
   3. Canon IJ Printer Utility will be launched.
      
      Note: To open the Canon IJ Printer Utility, turn on the machine and make sure that it is connected to the computer with a USB cable.
