Solution

The Face Self-Timer is a function that once you compose the shot and press the <shutter button>, the camera will take photos approximately two seconds after it detects your face.

This function is useful in taking group photos.

Attention:
  • Screens or menu listings may differ depending on the camera model being used.
  • As the actual locations of buttons / switches on cameras vary depending on the camera model, the illustrations that appear on this page may differ from your camera.
  • In the following shooting modes, you cannot use the Face Self-Timer function to detect a new face.

- [Movie] (), [Fireworks] (), [Easy]* (), [Stitch Assist]* (), [Color Accent]* (), [Color Swap]* ()

* Only applicable to supported models.

1. Press the <Power> button on the camera.

2. Press the <Self-Timer> () button.

3. A screen like the one below will appear on the monitor.

Operate the <Directional buttons> up or down to select [Face Self-Timer] ().

With [Settings...] displayed, press the <MENU> () button.

4. The following screen appears.

Operate the <directional buttons> right or left to set the number of shots.

After the settings are completed, press the <FUNC./SET> () button.

5. Compose the scene and press the <shutter button> halfway to focus.

Make sure a green frame appears on the face of the main subject, and white frames appear on other faces.

6. Press the <shutter button> fully.

The camera will enter shooting stand-by, and [Look straight at camera to start count down] will appear on the screen.

The lamp blinks and the self-timer sound plays.

7. Join the subjects and look at the camera.

When the camera detects a new face, the lamp and sound speed up (the lamp remains lit when the flash will fire), and two seconds later the shutter releases.

If you set the number of shots to two or more, the camera will take shots consecutively.

Note:
  • Even if your face is not detected after joining the subjects, the shutter will release approximately 30 seconds after you press the <shutter button> in Step 6.
  • If you select [Self-Timer Off] () in Step 3, you can cancel [Face Self-Timer]. You can also cancel [Face Self-Timer] by turning the power off, and then turning it on again.
