Explanation of the Remove the Cassette message on the VIXIA HV40

Solution

Remove the cassette mark

If the slash cassette mark is blinking

No cassette.

Load a cassette correctly.

  • If the slash cassette mark is blinking and the remaining time on the tape is displayed*
    -     The cassette is protected.
Check whether the position of the protect switch is set to REC.

*On the viewfinder screen, "THE TAPE IS SET FOR ERASURE PREVENTION" lights up for 4 seconds and then blinks red.

If these problems persist even after having attempted the solutions described above, please contact the nearest Canon service center.
