Description

Learn how to remove a paper jam in your PIXMA MX320.

Solution

Follow the steps below for instructions on how to remove paper jams.

Paper jam in the rear tray or paper output slot

  1. Slowly pull the paper out, either from the rear tray or from the paper output slot.

  2. If the paper tears and a piece remains inside the machine, turn the machine off, open the scanning unit (cover), and remove the paper.

Be careful not to touch the components inside the machine or you may damage them.

  3. After you remove all paper, close the scanning unit (cover), and turn the machine back on

  4. If you can't pull the paper out, turn the machine off and then turn it back on. The paper should eject automatically.

  5. Reload the paper, and press the OK button on the machine.

  6. Confirm your paper is loaded correctly in the printer.

  7. Use paper other than the A5 size to print documents with photos or graphics. Use of the A5 printout may curl and cause paper jams.

  8. If you turn off the machine, all print jobs in the queue are canceled. Reprint if necessary.

Document jams in the ADF (Auto Document Feeder)

If you press the Stop button while scanning and the document remains in the ADF, a message appears on the LCD screen. Press the OK button. The document that remains is automatically fed out.

  1. if a print job is in progress, press the Stop button.

  2. Turn off the machine.

  3. If a multi-page document is loaded, remove all pages except the jammed page from the ADF. Then open the document feeder cover.

  4. Pull out the jammed document from the ADF.

  5. Close the document feeder cover. Then turn on the machine.

  6. If the jammed document is in the output slot, open the document output slot shown below and pull out the document.

  1. Once the error clears, rescan from the first page.

The document may not feed properly based on the media type or your environment (low or high humidity). Reduce the number of document pages to half the load capacity. If the document still jams, use the platen glass (glass scan surface) instead.

In other cases

Check 1: Are there foreign objects around the paper output slot?

Check 2: Are there foreign objects in the rear tray?

Chcek 3: If you drop a foreign object into the rear tray, turn off the machine. Then remove the foreign object.

Check 4: Is the paper curled?
