Remove tape from the MP490 ink cartridge

Description

Remove the orange protective tape from the ink cartridge in the direction of the arrow.

Solution

Ink Cartridge Protective Film

If ink does not come out, check to make sure that the protective film has been correctly removed.

  1. After confirming that the printer is powered on, open the scanning unit cover. The ink cartridge holder moves to the replacement position.

    Note: After confirming that the scanning unit support (C) is fixed into position, release your hands.

  2. Remove the empty FINE Cartridge.



    1. Pinch the tabs and open the Ink Cartridge Locking Cover.
    2. Remove the FINE Cartridge.

  3. Gently remove the orange protective tape (D) in the direction of the arrow.




    Note:
    - Do not attempt to reattach the protective tape once you have removed it.
    - Do not touch the gold electrical contacts (A) or the print head nozzles (B) after removing the protective tape.




  4. Install the FINE Cartridge.


    1. Put a new FINE Cartridge in the FINE Cartridge Holder.
      The Color FINE Cartridge should be installed into the left slot and the Black FINE Cartridge should be into the right slot.

    2. Close the Ink Cartridge Locking Cover to lock the FINE Cartridge into place.
      Push down the Ink Cartridge Locking Cover until it clicks.

    3. Confirm that the Ink Cartridge Locking Cover is closed correctly.




      (E) Closed correctly

      (F) Not closed correctly (the cover is tilted)

  5. Lift the Scanning Unit (Cover) slightly to set the Scanning Unit Support back to its original position, and gently close the Scanning Unit (Cover).

  6. Wait until the preparatory operation is complete; it takes about one to two minutes.
