Description

How to update the firmware of the EOS 10D.

Solution

This Firmware update (Version 2.0.1) incorporates the following changes:

  • Correction of the LCD monitor display in firmware version 2.0.0

This firmware update applies to cameras with firmware versions 1.0.0, 1.0.1, or 2.0.0. It is not necessary to perform this update on cameras that already have version 2.0.1 firmware.

Note:

When updating the camera's firmware from version 1.0.x to 2.0.1, all of the camera's settings will revert to the values they had at the time of purchase. As a result, C.Fn (Custom Function) and related settings will be cleared, so it is recommended to take note of these settings before performing the update. Once the update to version 2.0.1 is complete, each of these settings will need to be set back to the desired values. Also, the sequential numbering of image files is reset by this firmware update. Users who have their cameras set to use sequential numbering will need to be careful when transferring files to their computers, because there is risk that post-update file names may be the same as ones created before the update, in which case the older files could be overwritten when the new ones are imported. It is possible, however, to continue shooting from the previous sequential numbering after the update to version 2.0.1 if there are images remaining on the last CF card used for shooting and that same card is used to continue shooting.
*The settings are not reset when updating the firmware from version 2.0.0 to 2.0.1.

Firmware version 2.0.0

  1. PictBridge support*
By updating your camera's firmware to version 2.0.0, you can add support for PictBridge, which will enable you to print images simply by connecting directly to any PictBridge-compliant printer. For information about how to use the PictBridge functions, please download the manual (a PDF file) at the end of this page. Of course, you can continue to print from Canon's unique camera-direct printers (i.e., BUBBLE JET DIRECT, etc.) just as you always have.
  2. Improvements or corrections to the following:
    1. The release time lag when using Microdrives
    2. C.Fn-04 AE lock operations
    3. Exposure compensation display errors when using the Transmitter ST-E2

*PictBridge

PictBridge is a new industry standard for direct printing that allows you to print images without using a computer by directly connecting digital cameras and digital camcorders to a printer, regardless of the devices' brand and model.
