Cause Solution

Wrong paper and print quality settings.

  • Confirm the paper and print quality settings.

Ink tanks are low.

Orange or protective tape remains on the ink tank.

  • Make sure all of the protective film is peeled off and the air hole is exposed, as illustrated in (A).

  • If the orange tape is left as in (B), pull the orange tape and remove it.

Ink doesn't eject properly from the print head nozzles.

Print the nozzle check pattern to determine whether ink ejects properly from the print head nozzles.

  • If the nozzle check pattern isn't printed correctly, check to see if a particular color's ink tank is empty.
If ink is present in the tank, clean the print head and then print the nozzle check again.

  • If the problem isn't resolved after cleaning the print head twice, perform a deep clean of the print head, then print the nozzle check again.

  • If the problem isn't resolved after a deep clean, turn off the printer and perform another deep clean after 24 hours.

  • If the problem isn't resolved after the second deep clean, service is required.

Wrong side of the paper is loaded.

  • When you use paper with one printable side, make sure to load the paper with the printable side facing up.

  • If you print on the wrong side of such paper, it may cause unclear prints and reduced quality.

  • Refer to the paper's instruction manual for detailed information on the printable side.

Dirty glass surface.

  • Clean the glass.

Original isn't loaded properly on the glass.

  • Make sure to properly load the original on the glass.

Wrong side of the original is loaded faced down on the glass.

  • Load the correct side of the original on the glass.

You copied a printout from the same machine.
  • Print from the memory card, USB flash drive, or directly from the digital camera, or reprint from the computer.

  • If you copy a document or image printed by this machine, print quality may be reduced.
