Learn how to set the printer to the correct port, in the driver for your PIXMA MX432, MX439 printer, when you receive a printer not responding or is off-line error.
 

Solution

Follow the steps below to accurately configure the printer port.


Configure the printer port

Note "XXX" signifies your printer's name.

  1. Log on as a user account with administrator privileges.

  2. Open the folder that matches your computer's operating system:

    • Windows 10 - From the Start menu, type Devices and Printers, then select Devices and Printers under Settings.

    • Windows 8 / 8.1 - From the Settings charm, select Control Panel > View devices and printers.

    • Windows 7 - Select the Start menu > Devices and Printers.

    • Windows Vista - Select the Start menu > Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Printers.

    • Windows XP - Select the Start menu > Control Panel > Printers and Other Hardware > Printers and Faxes.

  3. Open the printer properties menu:

    • Windows 10 - Right-click on the "Canon XXX Printer" icon (where "XXX" is your printer's name), then select Printer properties.

    • Windows 8 / 8.1 - Right-click on the "Canon XXX Printer" icon (where "XXX" is your printer's name), then select Printer properties.

    • Windows 7 - Right-click on the "Canon XXX Printer" icon (where "XXX" is your printer's name), then select Printer properties.

    • Windows Vista or Windows XP - Right-click on the "Canon XXX Printer" icon (where "XXX" is your printer's name), then select Properties.

  4. Select the Ports tab to confirm the port settings.

  5. Make sure that a port named "USBnnn" (where "n" is a number) with "Canon XXX Printer" appears in the Printer column and is selected for Print to the following port(s).

Note When the printer is used over a wireless network (LAN), the port name of the printer is displays as "CNBJNP_xxxxxxxxxx". ("xxxxxxxxxx" is the character string generated from the MAC address or specified by the user when the printer is set up.)
