Description

Learn how to forward scanned images from the PIXMA MG2220 to a Mac using the printer's operation panel.

Solution

You can use the operation panel of your printer to send scanned images to your Mac®.

Before you begin

Check the following before you forward an image scan:
  • Make sure that ScanGear is installed.

If ScanGear (scanner driver) isn't installed, insert the Setup CD into the computer's disc drive, then install ScanGear (scanner driver).

If you don't have the Setup CD, or if your computer doesn't have a CD or DVD drive, you can download ScanGear (scanner driver) from the Canon website.

  • Make sure that your printer is connected to the computer with a USB cable.

You can only forward scanned data when the printer is connected to your computer via USB.

Don't plug in or unplug the USB cable while the machine is in operation, or when the computer is in the sleep or standby mode.

  • Make sure the destination and the file name are specified in Canon IJ Scan Utility.

You can specify the destination and the file name in Canon IJ Scan Utility. Learn how to change the Canon IJ Scan Utility settings.

Forward a scan

Follow these steps to forward a scan.
Note When you scan from the printer's operation panel, the printer automatically detects the document type and size.

  1. Turn the printer ON.

  2. Load the original document on the scanner surface.

  3. Press the SCAN button on the printer.

  4. Scanning starts and the image forwards to the computer according to the settings you specified in Canon IJ Scan Utility.

  5. Remove the original after the scan completes.

Note If an image doesn't scan correctly, you may need to change the Canon IJ Scan Utility settings in Select Source: and Paper Size: to match the original, then use the Canon IJ Scan Utility to complete the scan.
