Auto Exposure Bracketing (AEB Mode)

In this mode, the camera automatically changes the exposure within a set range to take three shots as the same interval as continuous shooting after you press the shutter button once. The images are shot in the following order: Standard exposure, underexposure and overexposure.

This function is only available in the P, Tv, and Av modes.

You can adjust AEB settings in 1/3 stops within the range of -2EV to +2EV of the standard exposure setting. AEB settings can be combined with exposure compensation settings to extend the adjustment range. The images are recorded in the following order: Standard exposure, underexposure and overexposure.

  1. With the LCD monitor on, press the <FUNC./SET> button. using the or arrow choose the BKT option. The Bracket setting menu appears on the LCD monitor.


  2. Select (AEB) using the or arrow or the <Control Dial>, then press the <DISP.> button.


    • The compensation range cannot be adjusted when the LCD monitor is off, even if you press the <FUNC./SET> button. AEB operations are carried out with the currently selected compensation range. Press the <FUNC./SET> button to end the operation.
    • The range indicator appears. If you wish to use the currently set exposure range, press the <FUNC./SET> button to end the mode setting operation and shoot the image.
  3. Use to expand the range and to contract it, or simply use the Main Control dial. Press the <FUNC./SET> button to complete the setting. Then shoot the image.

    • You can shoot the image right after selecting settings by pressing the shutter button. The menu displays again after the shot, allowing you to change the settings easily.
    • The camera returns to Step 1 screen if you press the <FUNC./SET> button.
    • To cancel this setting choose from the FUNC. menu.
The AEB mode cannot be used for flash photography. If the flash fires, only one image gets recorded.
