A blank or gray screen in CAMERA mode may indicate a problem with the camcorder. In order to determine if the camcorder is malfunctioning and requires service, perform the following checks :
- Ensure the lens covers are fully open.
- Check the viewfinder (eyepiece) and LCD panel:
- It is normal for the viewfinder to stop working when the LCD panel is open, close the LCD panel before checking the viewfinder.
- If the screen is normal on one of these, but not the other, the camcorder needs service.
- If the camcorder operates normally in PLAYBACK mode but the screen is still blank in CAMERA mode, the camcorder needs servicing.
