mechanical noise

Solution

Mechanical sounds may sometimes be heard in the recording when shooting video in quiet surroundings.  These sounds are normal and are due in part to the proximity of the built-in microphone to the camcorder's machinery. Try the steps below to reduce or eliminate the noise:

    • Turn off the Image Stabilizer and consider using a tripod or monopod.
    • Attach an external microphone to the camcorder's MIC Terminal.  Place the external microphone away from the camcorder when recording.  (Not all camcorders are equipped with a MIC Terminal).
    • Avoid touching the microphone when recording video.
    • Avoid operating the  camcorder around electronic equipment.
