Description

A Color Check calculates the difference between the results of color measurement on the test pattern built into the printer and the calibration target.

Solution

Features of Color Checks Using the Spectrophotometer Unit
A Color Check calculates the difference between the results of color measurement on the test pattern built into the printer and the calibration target. Executing a Color Check prints a test pattern, which is then measured automatically by the Spectrophotometer Sensor on the Spectrophotometer Unit.
The resulting measurement value is then compared with the calibration target stored on the printer, and the corresponding difference is displayed on the Control Panel and Color Calibration Management Console.
Note
•  When printing the color check adjustment pattern, the calibration adjustment values are applied even if Use Adj. Value is set to Disabled in the Control Panel menu.

Setting Threshold Values
Threshold values are used in the Color Check process. Set in the Color Calibration Management Console.

Executing Color Check from the Control Panel on the Printer
Follow the steps below to execute a Color Check from the Control Panel.
Refer to the information on Color Calibration Management Console operations when executing color check from the computer.

Preparing the Printer

  1. First, check whether the paper to be loaded can be used in a Color Check.
The types of paper that can be used in Color Checks are the same as those that can be used in AutoAdjst(HiPrc) using the Spectrophotometer Unit.
  2. Load the paper.
  3. Note
    •  If Adj. Quality has not been executed even once on the paper you are using, execute Adj. Quality in the Control Panel menu.

  4. Select the White/Black Backing Plate color.
    Note
    •  For the color of the White/Black Backing Plate, select the color from when color calibration was executed using the Spectrophotometer Unit.

  5. Choose the size of the test pattern. Set Pattern Size in the Control Panel menu.
    Note
    •  To increase the precision of the color check, select the Pattern Size from when color calibration was executed using the Spectrophotometer Unit.

Executing a Color Check from the Control Panel

  1. On the Tab Selection screen of the Control Panel, press   or  to select (Settings/Adj. tab).
    Note
    •  If the Tab Selection screen is not displayed, press the Menu button.

  2. Press the OK button. Set./Adj. Menu is displayed.
  3. Press or to select Adjust Printer, and then press the OK button.
  4. Press or to select Calibration, and then press the OK button.
  5. Press or to select ColorCheck Print and then press the OK button. The printer then measures environmental conditions, checks the paper, and executes a Color Check.
  6. The results of the Color Check are shown on the Control Panel. If the color measurement results exceed the threshold values, we recommend executing color calibration.
