How to check the SSID or connect to a wireless network in Windows 8

Solution

Check the wireless network icon to check SSID, or click it to access wireless networks.

 

  1. On your keyboard, hold the windows key and press " I ". The Settings 'charm' opens



     
  2. The SSID (network name) of the currently connected network will be displayed below the icon . Available will be displayed if wireless networks are available but not connected. Unavailable is displayed if no wireless networks are available.


      
     
  3. Click the icon to see a list of available wireless networks. The currently connected network will display Connected



     
  4. To connect to a network, click the network name then click Connect on the window which opens. It may be necessary to enter a security key
