Solution

Wi-Fi connection to an iOS mobile device:

Ad-hoc

1. Install the camera window APP.

2. Switch the camera to playback.

a. Press MENU.

b. Open the tools tab.

c. Select "Wireless LAN Settings".

d. Select "Change Device Nickname".

e. Set a name for the camera.

f. Return to the playback screen.

Open iOS Mobile device to main screen

a. Open settings.

b. Open WI-FI.

Pair the devices together

a. With the camera in playback press the network symbol in the upper left corner.

b. Press the mobile device logo in the center of the top row.

c. Choose "add a device".

d. Press "Ad Hoc".

e. The camera will broadcast an SSID name and the device should see it.

f. Select the camera on the device and you will be asked to enter the password.

g. Identify the WEP key: on the back of the camera and enter it into the password on the device, then press join.

Open CW app on the iOS device

a. If the camera times out press retry

b. Camera should recognize the device. Touch the device on cameras LCD screen to connect.

c. The iOS device should show connected.

d. Press view images on iOS device LCD screen.

e. The camera screen will show last photo taken , the network icon and the iOS device nickname.

f. Press (view images on camera) on the iOS device to access the images on the camera.

Save/Share from camera window on the iOS device

a. To save images to the iOS device press the symbol in the upper right corner of the iPad or lower left on iPhone.

b. Select multiple images to save (each image touched will receive a check mark).

c. Once images are selected press save in the upper left corner.

d. To share touch an image on the iOS device and it will enlarge on the screen then touch the symbol in the upper right corner. The options will be save Image, send by Facebook, send to YouTube and Email.

Note: The transfer options available will vary based on the device the camera connects to. Disconnecting the camera will end camera window and close the session.

Infrastructure using an access point

1. Install the camera window APP on the device to connect to.

2. Power the camera on in the playback mode.

a. Press the FUNC button.

b. Press MENU.

c. Open the tools tab.

d. Select Wireless LAN Settings.

e. Select Change Device Nickname.

f. Set a name for the camera.

g. Return to the playback screen.

Open iOS Mobile device to main screen

a. Open settings.

c. Open WIFI.

d. Choose a network.

e. Input the WEP key for the router.

f. If correct the network will appear with a check mark next to it.

g. Exit settings.

Pair the devices together

a. With the camera in playback and the APP not yet launched press the network symbol in the upper left corner of the camera.

b. Press the mobile device logo in the center of the top row.

c. (Select a Device) Press Add a Device.

d. Press infrastructure, then press next in the lower right corner.

e. Searching for access point will display new page (Access Point Connect), select your router from the list.

f. (Encryption key entry) Touch the empty box and the keypad will display, type in the access code for the router (WEP password), then press the back arrow in the upper right corner.

g. (Encryption Key Entry) Enter an encryption key Security: WEP, the box will have asterisks in it (*) press next.

h. Network settings: Press auto.

i. Camera will say, Connecting, Access Point, Start dedicated APP on device.

j. Launch Canon CW App on mobile device.

k. Mobile device name will appear highlighted in orange on the camera. Press it to choose.

l. Allow images to be viewed on connected device (no/yes) select yes.

m. The Camera is now connected to the device.

n. Press view images on camera on the mobile device and the photos will appear in thumbnails.

Note: The camera will not connect with the mobile device if you launch the CW APP prior to the camera directing you to launch the Mobile APP (CW App).

If at any time during the first paring the process is not completed you may have to restart at the point where you insert the access point’s password.

Once connected and the images from the camera are displayed on the mobile device future connections require that the CW APP be started when the camera connection is initiated.
