Solution

IMPORTANT
  • The position and shape of the operation buttons, screens displayed, and setting items may differ according to the model you use.

To shoot without the flash popping up, hold down the flash directly with your finger.
While the flash is being held down, the flash is automatically turned off [Off] ().

NOTE
  • The flash does not fire when it is stowed away in the camera, so even if you press the right <directional button>*, the settings do not change. If you wish to fire the flash, lift up the flash**, and then press the right <directional button>* to change the settings.
* If you are using the PowerShot SX40 HS, this is the <flash> button ().
** If you are using the PowerShot SX160 IS, press the <Flash up> button ()to raise the flash.
** If you are using the PowerShot G15, move the <Flash up> switch ()to raise the flash.
