Solution

Uninstall the Canon IJ Network Tool

Follow the steps below to uninstall the Canon IJ Network Tool from your Mac®.

  1. Select Applications from the Go menu of Finder, then double-click on Canon Utilities > IJ Network Tool, and drag the Canon IJ Network Tool icon into the Trash.

  2. Empty the Trash, then restart your computer.
Note Even if IJ Network Tool is uninstalled, you can print and scan from the computer over network. However, you can't change the network settings over network.

Use the Setup CD if you need to reinstall the IJ Network Tool. If you don't have the Setup CD, or if your computer doesn't have a CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive, you can download the IJ Network Tool from the Canon website.

Disable auto launch on the IJ Network Scanner Selector EX

If the ScanGear (scanner driver) is installed, the IJ Network Scanner Selector EX launches automatically. This enables you to scan from the operation panel on the scanner.

Follow the steps below to prevent the IJ Scanner Selector EX from launching.

  1. Select System Preferences from the Apple menu.

  2. Select Accounts from System, select a user name from My Account, then select Login Items.
Note Depending on the version of Mac OS X you're using, you'll select Users & Groups instead of Accounts.

  3. Select Canon IJ Network Scanner Selector EX, then select the minus [-] sign .

  4. Confirm that Canon IJ Network Scanner Selector EX is hidden, then restart your computer.
Note If you disable the auto-launch feature, you can still print and scan from your Mac but you won't be able to forward scans to your PC from the printer's operation panel.

Follow either of the procedures below to turn the auto launch feature back on.
  • Follow the steps above, only select the plus sign [+] in the step 3. Then click Applications > Canon Utilities > IJ Network Scanner Selector EX, select Canon IJ Network Scanner Selector EX, and click Add, and restart your computer.

  • Select Preferences from the Network Scanner Selector EX menu, then select the Enable scanning checkbox from the operation panel.
