Resolve Light Flashes Orange - PIXMA iP4200 Printer

Description

Understand and resolve the orange light that flashes on your PIXMA iP2700 or iP2702.

Solution

To resolve the alarm light errors on your printer take note of the numbers of flashed are refer to the tables below to take the appropriate action.

  • When a printer error occurs, the alarm lamp flashes orange in the way as shown below. If the orange light flashes repeatedly count the flashes and refer to Table 1 to take the appropriate action.

  • The power and alarm lamps flash alternately as shown below. Refer to Table 2 to take appropriate action.

Flashes Cause Action

Two (2)

Printer is out of paper.

Paper does not feed.

  • Reload paper to the auto sheet feeder or cassette and tap RESUME/CANCEL.

Three (3)

Paper jam.

Paper output tray is closed.

  • If paper is jammed, remove the jammed paper, reload paper in the printer, and then tap RESUME/CANCEL. 
     
  • If the paper output tray is closed, open it.

Four (4)

The ink tank installed may not be installed properly. The lamp on the ink tank is off.

The ink has run out. The lamp on the ink tank flashes.

  • Replace the ink tank, and close the top cover.

     If a print is in progress and you want to continue, tap RESUME/CANCEL, with the ink tank installed. The print can continue under the ink out condition. Replace the empty ink tank immediately after the print. The printer may be damaged if you continue to print under the ink out condition.

     If multiple ink tank lamps flash, check how fast they flash. Fast flashes (one second intervals) indicates the ink is empty. Slow flashes (three second intervals) indicates ink is low.

Five (5)

Print head not installed.

Print head not installed correctly.

Print head is defective.

  • Install the print Head. If the print head is already installed, remove the print head and then reinstall it.

  • If this error still remains, the print head may be damaged. Service is required.

Six (6)

Inner cover is open.

  • Close the Inner cover and tap RESUME/CANCEL.

  • Do not open or close the Inner cover while on  a print job because this can damage the printer.

Seven (7)

Some ink tanks are not installed in place.

More than one ink tanks of the same color are installed.

Eight (8)

Waste ink absorber almost full.

  • The printer has a built-in waste ink absorber for the ink used when print head cleaning, for example. Eight flashes indicates that the waste ink absorber is nearly full. Tap the RESUME/CANCEL to cancel the error so you can continue.

     Once the waste ink absorber becomes completely full, the printer cannot be used until the waste ink tank is replaced.

Nine (9)

A specified period of time has elapsed without a response from the digital camera or digital video camcorder.

The digital camera or digital video camcorder connected is not compatible with this printer.

  • Disconnect the camera cable and reconnect it.

  • Based on the model or brand of your device, you may have to select a print mode compliant with PictBridge before you connect the device.

  • Perform necessary operations based on instruction manual supplied with your device.

  • If the error is still unresolved, there is a possibility that the digital camera or digital video camcorder that is supported by the printer. Use a digital camera or digital video camcorder compatible with this printer.

     You may also have to turn on the device or select Play mode manually.

Ten (10)

Cannot print on sides of the page.

  • The size of paper may not be compatible with automatic duplex printing.

  • The sizes of media suitable for auto duplex printing are A4, Letter, A5, and 5" x 7". Ensure that the size of the paper loaded in the printer is correct.

     If you tap RESUME/CANCEL, the printer will discharge the paper, and restart the print from the front side of the next paper. The reverse side will not be printed when an error occurs.

Eleven (11)

Automatic print head alignment failed.

  • A4 or Letter-sized paper is not loaded on the auto sheet feeder.

    • Tap RESUME/CANCEL on the printer to clear the error, then load one sheet of A4 or Letter-sized paper in the auto sheet feeder.

    • Automatic print head alignment cannot be performed with the paper from the cassette. For automatic print head alignment, always load paper in the Auto Sheet Feeder.

  • Print head nozzles are clogged.

  • The paper output slot has been exposed to a strong light source that prevents correct print head alignment.

    • Tap RESUME/CANCEL to clear the error and move the printer to a darker location.

 If the problem continues after the print head again alignment, tap RESUME/CANCEL to clear the error, and then perform manual print head alignment.

Thirteen (13)

The ink level that remains in the tank cannot be correctly detected.    

  • An ink tank that was once empty is installed. Replace the ink tank.

     Prints performed under the situation may damage the print head.

     Canon shall not be liable for any printer malfunction or damage caused by refilled ink tanks. If you want to continue to print with the refilled ink tank installed, press and hold the RESUME/CANCEL button for at least five seconds, and then release it. Use of refilled ink tanks are memorized.

     This operation will stop the function for detection of the printer ink levels.

Fourteen (14)

The ink tank cannot be recognized.

The ink tank may not be compatible with this printer.

  • Replace the ink tank.

Fifteen (15)

The ink tank cannot be recognized.

Ink tank errors have occurred.

  • Replace the ink tank.

  • Disconnect the printer cable from the printer, and then turn the printer off and unplug the printer from the power supply. Plug the printer back in and turn the printer back on and leave it for a while.

  • If the error does not clear after a power reset, service may be required
