Solution

Follow the steps below to scan from your Mac® using the MP Navigator EX app.

Scan Photos or Documents

  1. Place the document or photo on the scanner glass.

  2. Start MP Navigator EX and open the Navigation Mode screen.

  3. From Scan / Import, select Photos / Documents (Platen).

    • If you select Magazine (Color), the descreen function is enabled and it takes longer to scan. To disable the function, remove the check from the Descreen checkbox in Scan Settings.

    • Select Text (OCR) if you want to extract the text in the image so you can edit it using MP Navigator EX.
Note This isn't available when the Compress scanned images when transferring is selected from General Tab > Preferences.
Note Color scan isn't available for Text (OCR). To scan in color, open the One-click Mode > OCR dialog and scan with the Color Mode set to Color.

  5. Select Specify... to set the document size and scanning resolution, then select OK.
Note When you scan a large document, such as an A4 size photo, align it's corner with the corner at the arrow (alignment mark) of the glass, and specify the size in Scan Settings.

  6. Select Scan. The scan begins. Select Cancel if you need to stop to the scan.

  7. When the scan completes, select Scan to scan the next document or Exit.

  8. The scanned images appear in the thumbnail screen.
Note For help, view the edit tools in Photos / Documents in the Scan / Import window.
Note When you select an image to edit, the image is outlined in orange. Use shift-click or command-click to select multiple images. You can also drag and drop images into the Selected Images area.
