Set Up Network Scan Settings on a Windows PC (MAXIFY / PIXMA)

Learn how to set up the network scan settings on your Canon printer with your Windows computer.

Solution

You can use IJ Network Scanner Selector EX to connect your scanner or printer to a network for use among multiple computers.

  Multiple users can't scan at the same time. It may take longer to scan from a network with multiple computers.



Set scanner for use with IJ Network Scanner Selector EX

Follow the steps below to specify the scanner or printer you want to use on your network. If you change the scanner you use with IJ Network Scanner Selector EX, you will also need to change it with IJ Scan Utility. (See the next section below for instructions.)

  1. Make sure IJ Network Scanner Selector EX is activated. You'll know it is if you see its icon in the notification area of the taskbar (see the image below).

    If your scanner or printer isn't selected in IJ Scan Utility, check to see if it's selected with IJ Network Scanner Selector EX.

  2. ​If the icon doesn't display in the notification area of the taskbar, open IJ Network Scanner Selector EX:
  • Windows 11 / 10:
    • From the Start menu, select All Apps Canon Utilities IJ Network Scanner Selector EX IJ Network Scanner Selector EX.

    • You can also search for IJ Network Scanner Selector EX from the Start menu.

  • Windows 8 / 8.1:

    • Select IJ Network Scanner Selector EX on the Start screen.

    • If IJ Network Scanner Selector EX doesn't display, select the Search charm, then search for IJ Network Scanner Selector EX.

  • Windows 7/ Windows Vista/ Windows XP:

    • From the Start menu, select All Programs > Canon Utilities > IJ Network Scanner Selector EX > IJ Network Scanner Selector EX.

    • If the Scan-from-PC Settings screen appears, skip ahead to Step 4.

  1. In the notification area of the taskbar, right-click the IJ Network Scanner Selector EX icon, and select Settings....

    The Scan-from-PC Settings screen appears.

  2. Select your scanner or printer from Scanners. If your scanner or printer is already selected, you don't need to select it again.

     If multiple scanners exist on the network, multiple model names will display. In that case, select the model you want to use.

  3. Select OK.
     


Set scanner for use with IJ Scan Utility

Once you specify your scanner with IJ Network Scanner Selector EX, you will also need to change it with IJ Scan Utility.

  1. Start IJ Scan Utility.

  2. Select Canon XXX series Network (where XXX is the model name) for Product Name.

     If you have a USB connection, select "Canon XXX series" (where "XXX" is the model name) for Product Name.

  3. Select Settings... to use another scanner connected to a network.

  4. Select  General Settings icon General Settings, then choose Select in Product Name.

  1. The Scan-from-PC Settings screen of IJ Network Scanner Selector EX appears.

  2. Select the scanner you want to use, then select OK.

  3. In the Settings (General Settings) dialog box, select OK.

  4. The IJ Scan Utility main screen reappears. You can now scan via a network connection.

     If your scanner or printer doesn't appear, check the following, click OK to close the screen, then reopen it and try selecting again.

  • Make sure the printer / scanner drivers are installed.

  • Make sure the network setting of your scanner or printer is completed after you install the MP Drivers.

  • Make sure network communication between your scanner / printer and computer is enabled.
