Resolve LED Error Codes on Your PIXMA MG3220 / MG3222 Printer

Description

Understand and resolve the error codes that appear on the LED display of your PIXMA MG3220 / MG3222 printer.

Solution

When a printer error occurs, the alarm lamp is lit orange and the error code displays on the LED. Check the error code displayed on the LED and take the appropriate action to correct the error.  

Depending on the error that occurred, the alarm lamp may not be lit.  Refer to Table 1 below.

When the alarm lamps flashes and an error code displays on the LED, the printer may need to be serviced. Refer to Table 2 below.

The printer is out of paper / paper does not feed.
  • Reload the paper on the front tray and select Black or Color.
     
  • When you load the paper, insert the paper stack until the leading edge touches the far end of the front tray.

The paper is jammed.

 
  • Remove the jammed paper, reload new paper in the printer, then select Black or Color.

 

E,0,4

The FINE cartridge is not installed properly
  • Open the paper output cover. When the head cover opens, push up the ink cartridge lock lever to confirm the ink cartridges are installed properly. Then, close the paper output cover.
  • If the error persists, remove and reinstall the ink cartridges.
     
  • If the Head Cover doesn't open, turn off the printer. Then, push the left side of the ink cartridge holder, and move it until it hits the right inner side of the printer. 

    Don't touch other parts inside the printer (see slide images below).
 
 
 
  • When the Head Cover opens, move the ink cartridge holder so the cartridge lock lever can be seen (see slide images below).
 
 
  • Remove and reinstall the ink cartridge.

The ink cartridge is not installed properly./Appropriate ink cartridge is not installed or not compatible

 

  • Install the appropriate ink cartridge.
     
  • If the error isn't resolved, service is required.

The paper output cover is open
  • Close the paper output cover.

The ink cartridge is not installed in the correct position
  • Make sure the ink cartridges are installed correctly.




E,0,8

The ink absorber is almost full.
  • Press the printer's Black or Color button to continue the print. Service will soon be required

The loaded paper is not compatible with automatic duplex printing.

 

  • The size of the paper may not be compatible with automatic duplex printing. Compatible sizes are A4 and Letter. Make sure the size of the paper in the printer is correct. Tapping Color or Black will eject the paper and restart the print from the front side of the next paper. The reverse side of the ejected sheet will not print.

You cannot print the contents on CREATIVE PARK PREMIUM.
  • When you print the contents on CREATIVE PARK PREMIUM, confirm the message on the computer screen, make sure that genuine Canon ink cartridges are all installed properly, then start printing again.




E,1,3

The remaining ink level cannot be detected.
  • The ink may have run out.
     
  • The function that detects the remaining ink level is disabled.
    • If you want to continue your print without this function, press the printer's Stop/Reset button for at least 5 seconds. 
       
  • Canon recommends genuine Canon ink cartridges in order to obtain optimum qualities.
Please be advised that Canon shall not be liable for any malfunction or trouble caused by continuation of printing under the ink out condition.

The ink cartridge cannot be recognized.
  • The print can't be executed because the ink cartridge may not be installed properly or may not be compatible with this printer.
     
  • Install the appropriate ink cartridge.
     
  • If you want to cancel the print, tap Stop/Reset.




E,1,5

The ink cartridge cannot be recognized.
  • Replace the ink cartridge.
     
  • If the error isn't resolved, the ink cartridge may be damaged. Service is required

The ink has run out.
  • Replace the ink cartridge and close the paper output cover.
    • If a print is in progress and you want to continue, press Stop/Reset for at least 5 seconds with the ink cartridge installed. The print continues under the ink out condition.
       
  • The function that detects the remaining ink level is disabled.
     
  • Replace the empty ink cartridge immediately. The resulting print quality may not be satisfactory if you continue under the ink out condition.

The Front Tray is closed.
  • Open the front tray to resume printing.

An error regarding network setup has occurred.
  • Tap Black or Color to dismiss the error, then perform setup again.

The size of the original can't be correctly detected or the document is too small when the Fit-to-Page setting is selected.


 

  • Make sure the original is correctly loaded on the glass surface.
     
  • Check the position and direction of the original loaded on the glass surface.

 




E,3,1

The printer isn't connected with the computer.
  • Connect the printer and the computer with a USB cable.




E,4,0

The protective material for the ink Cartridge or the tape remains attached.
  • Check the inside of the printer. If the protective material or the tape remains attached, remove it.




E,5,0

Scanning the print head alignment sheet has failed.

 

  • Tap Stop/Reset to dismiss the error, then take the actions described below.
    • Make sure the print head alignment sheet is set in the correct position and orientation on the glass surface.
    • Make sure the glass surface and the print head alignment sheet aren't dirty.
    • Make sure the type and size of loaded paper is correct for automatic print head alignment.  Always load one sheet of A4 or letter-sized plain paper.
    • Print the nozzle check pattern to check the status of the print head.
       
  • If the error isn't resolved, connect the printer to the computer and align the print head on the printer driver.

The protective material or other foreign material may be inside the printer, or the encoder film may need to be cleaned.
  • Follow these procedures.
    • Confirm that all the protective orange tapes and white packing materials are removed. If any remain, remove it 
    • Check if there is any foreign material inside the printer. Remove any foreign material. 
    • Check the encoder film condition, and clean it if it is smeared.

  • If replacing the ink cartridge does not resolve the issue, turn off the printer, and unplug the power cord of the printer from the power supply. Service is required
