Shooting in Various Scenes (PowerShot SX270 HS / PowerShot SX280 HS)

Solution

The camera will select the necessary settings for the conditions in which you wish to shoot when you choose the matching mode.

Set the Shooting mode

1. Press the power button to turn the camera on.

2. Select one of the shooting modes on the <Mode Dial> shown below.

The procedure for setting [Scene] (
) is explained below. The procedure for setting <Creative Filter> (
) mode can be performed in the same way.

3. Press the <FUNC./SET> (
) button.

4. The following screen appears.

Press the <

> buttons or turn the <Control dial> to choose [Shooting mode]*.
*If no changes have been made to the settings so far, [Portrait] (
) will be displayed.
Press the <FUNC./SET> (
) button.


5. The following screen appears.

Press the <
><
> buttons or turn the <Control dial> to select the desired [Shooting Mode].
Press the <FUNC./SET> (
) button.

6. The following screen appears.

When the icon for the [Shooting Mode] you selected appears in the top-right corner of the screen, the setting is complete.

    ) shots may look grainy because the ISO speed is increased to suit the shooting conditions.
  • Subjects appear larger in [Handheld NightScene] (
    ) mode compared to other modes.
  • Because the camera will shoot continuously in [Handheld NightScene] (
    ) mode, hold it steady while shooting.
  • In [Handheld NightScene] (
    ) mode , excessive camera shake or certain shooting conditions may prevent you from obtaining the desired results.
  • In [Fireworks] (
    ) mode, mount the camera on a tripod or take other measures to keep it still and prevent camera shake. Additionally, you should set [IS Mode] to [Off] when using a tripod or other means to hold the camera still
  • In the [Super Vivid] (
    ), [Old Poster] (
    ), [Fish-eye Effect] (
    ), [Miniature Effect] (
    ), [Toy Camera Effect] (
    ), and [Soft Focus Effect] (
    ) modes, try taking some test shots first, to make sure you obtain the desired results.
  • In [Discreet] (
    ) mode, even playback sounds are muted. Sounds of camera operations are muted, and movie audio is also muted.
