Solution | The camcorder offers two professional looking transition effects to fade-in or fade-out scenes. You have the option to activate the fader only one time or every time you start or stop recording. IMPORTANT When the [Camera Mode] is set to [ ![](/library/attachments/CanonUSA/TroubleshootingContents/Images/Global/G0151028.gif) ] (Baby) mode, this setting cannot be made. Please make the setting in [ ![](/library/attachments/CanonUSA/TroubleshootingContents/Images/Global/G0151027.gif) ] (Auto), [ ![](/library/attachments/CanonUSA/TroubleshootingContents/Images/Global/G0151029.gif) ] (Cinema), [ ![](/library/attachments/CanonUSA/TroubleshootingContents/Images/Global/G0151030.gif) ] (Special Scene), or ![](/library/attachments/CanonUSA/TroubleshootingContents/Images/Global/G0151031.gif) (Program AE).
1. Turn on the camcorder. 2. Touch [ ![](/library/attachments/CanonUSA/TroubleshootingContents/Images/Global/G0150964.gif) ].
3. ![](/library/attachments/CanonUSA/TroubleshootingContents/Images/Global/G0095950.gif) Drag your finger left/right to display the [Main Functions] menu, and then ![](/library/attachments/CanonUSA/TroubleshootingContents/Images/Global/G0095951.gif) touch to open it.
4. ![](/library/attachments/CanonUSA/TroubleshootingContents/Images/Global/G0095950.gif) Drag your finger up/down, and then ![](/library/attachments/CanonUSA/TroubleshootingContents/Images/Global/G0095951.gif) touch [Faders].
5. Touch the desired fader - You can preview the transition effect on the screen.
- Touch [OFF] to turn faders off.

Press <START/STOP> in record pause mode ( ![](/library/attachments/CanonUSA/TroubleshootingContents/Images/Global/G0074983.gif) ) to start recording with a fade in. Press <START/STOP> while recording ( ![](/library/attachments/CanonUSA/TroubleshootingContents/Images/Global/G0074984.gif) ) to fade out and pause the recording. NOTE - When you apply a fader, not only the picture but also the sound will fade in or out.
- Faders cannot be used in the following cases:
- While using the [Old Movies] cinema-look filter in ![](/library/attachments/CanonUSA/TroubleshootingContents/Images/Global/G0120980.gif) mode. - When recording scenes with decorations. - When recording video snapshot scenes. - While pre-recording is activated. - When the video quality is set to 60P/50P or 35 Mbps.
