Fix Common Fax Errors - PIXMA MX892

Description

Troubleshoot and resolve some of the most common fax errors that can occur on a PIXMA MX892.

Solution

If an error occurs when you send a fax, the error number prints in the TX report (for some errors, the cause is also listed).
 

Refer to the appropriate error number in the table below to find out how to resolve the issue.

Document is jammed in the ADF (Auto Document Feeder).

Clear the jam in the ADF and resend the fax.

Document is too long.
It took too long to send the page.

The maximum document length is 15.75 inches / 400 mm from the ADF.

Divide the document or set the image quality (Fax resolution) to a lower setting, then resend it.

No answer.
The recipient's fax machine doesn't respond.

Contact the fax recipient and have them make sure the telephone line is connected.

No paper is in the recipient's fax machine.

Contact the fax recipient and have them load paper.

No (dial) tone is detected.

You have the Dial tone detect under FAX settingsAdvanced FAX settings set to ON. Reset it to OFF.

Line was busy.

Wait a moment, then try to dial again.

Number is deleted.
The fax/telephone number assigned to the speed dial code is incorrect.

Check the recipient's fax / telephone number, correct the number assigned to the speed dial code, then resend the fax.

Transmission has been canceled due to a fax information mismatch.

This message displays when Check RX FAX information in Security control under FAX settings is set to ON. Toggle this option to OFF.

The recipient's fax machine isn't color-compatible.
Resend the fax in black & white.

The Stop button was pressed during transmission.

Resend the fax.

The fax could not be sent from the computer.

Check the following and resend the fax.

  • Is the machine connected to the computer?

  • Is the recipient's fax / telephone number is correct?

  • Is the recipient's fax / telephone number busy?
