Enabling / Disabling Error Correction Mode (ECM) RX
If there is noise on the phone line, received faxes may include white horizontal lines across the page (like missing lines) or compressed lines; or, errors will appear on the display.
Make sure that the machine is turned on. - Press the Menu button.
Select 
Setup, then press the OK button.
- Select
Device settings, then press the OK button.
- Use the
button to select Fax settings, then press the OK button. - Use the button to select Advanced FAX settings, then press the OK button.
- Use the button to select Adv. communication settings, then press the OK button.
- Use the button to select ECM RX , then press the OK button.
- Use the button to select On or Off, then press the OK button
- OFF: The machine will not receive a fax using ECM. Reception may be faster. However, the image quality will suffer if there is noise on the phone line. Color faxes cannot be received if ECM is Off.
- ON: Image quality will be good if there is noise on the phone line.
- Press the FAX button to return to standby mode.
