If there is noise on the phone line, received faxes may include white horizontal lines across the page (like missing lines) or compressed lines; or, errors will appear on the display. Turn on ECM RX to correct for line noise.

1. Make sure that the printer is turned on.

2. Press the Menu button.

3. Select    Setup, then press the OK button.

4. Select  Device settings, then press the OK button.
    
5. Use the button to select Fax settings, then press the OK button.
    
6. Use the button to select Advanced FAX settings, then press the OK button.
    
7. Use the button to select Adv. communication settings, then press the OK button.
    
8. Use the button to select ECM RX , then press the OK button.
    
9. Use the button to select On or Off, then press the OK button
    
   • OFF: Reception may be faster. However, the image quality will suffer if there is noise on the phone line.  Color faxes cannot be received if ECM is Off.
      
   • ON: Image quality will be good if there is noise on the phone line.
      
10. Press the FAX button to return to standby mode.
