Description

Learn how to reject a fax from certain types of senders, for security reasons, or to prevent unwanted faxes.

Solution


Conditions for rejection

You can set one of the following conditions to reject faxes:
  • No caller identification
  • Not registered in the printer's speed dial list
  • In the printer's rejected number list

Set the rejection condition

  1. Make sure that the printer is turned on.
  2. Press MENU button
  3. Select  Setup, then press OK.
  4. Select  Device settings, then press OK.
  5. Use the up / down arrow buttons UPDOWN to scroll to FAX settings, then press OK.
  6. Scroll to Security control, then press OK.
  7. Scroll to FAX reception reject, then press OK.
  8. Scroll to to select ON, then press OK.
  9. Use the arrow buttons to choose the fax rejection condition, then press OK.
    • No sender info.
    • Rejects faxes with no caller identification.
    • Coded dial unset
    • Rejects faxes from the senders not registered to coded speed dial codes.
    • Rejected numbers
    • Rejects faxes from the senders registered in the machine as rejected numbers.
Note:
  • When the printer rejects reception, Reception rejected. is displayed on the printer's LCD screen.
  • Faxes with no caller identification are also rejected when the setting other than No sender info. is selected.

Enter a number to reject

  1. When the confirmation screen to register the rejected number is displayed, use the up / down arrow buttons UPDOWN to select Yes, then press OK.
  2. Use the arrow buttons UPDOWN to select the saved number to register, then press OK.
  3. Use the arrow buttons UPDOWN to select a registration method, then press OK.
    You can add the number one of a few ways:
    • Direct entry - When you select this registration method, the screen to register the number is displayed. Press OK and enter the number you want to register, then press the left function button.
    • From outgoing call log - When you select this registration method, the screen to select the fax/telephone number from the outgoing call logs is displayed.  Use the arrow buttons UPDOWN to select a number, then press OK .
    • From incoming call log - When you select this registration method, the screen to select the fax/telephone number or the name from the incoming call logs is displayed. Use the arrow buttons UPDOWN to select a number or a name, then press the OK button. (This registration method is not available in all countries.)
  4. Press the left function button to finalize registration.
  5. To register another rejected number, use the arrow buttons UPDOWN to select another dial code, then register the rejected number.
    You can register up to 10 rejected numbers.

Updating the list of rejected numbers

You can print the list of rejected numbers. 

To update a registered rejected number:
  1. Select a registered rejected number you want to change, then press OK.
  2. Use the UPDOWN button to select Edit, then press OK. The screen to change the registered rejected number is displayed.
  3. Change the number.
  4. Press the left function button to finalize registration.

To delete the registered rejected number:
  1. Select a registered rejected number you want to delete, then press OK.
  2. Use the UPDOWN button to select Delete, then press OK. The confirmation screen is displayed.
  3. Use the UPDOWN button to select Yes, then press OK.
