Contact your local telephone company when you are not sure of the line type that you are using.

[ ] (Menu) -> <Fax Settings> -> <Basic Settings> -> <Select Line Type>

PulseSelect this setting when you are using a pulse line.
ToneSelect this setting when you are using a tone line.
