Use the PIXMA MX922 operation panel to scan images and documents.

Before you begin

Install the printer and scanner drivers on your computer. You can find the printer and scanner drivers on the Setup CD that came with your printer or download them from the PIXMA MX922 downloads & drivers support tab.

• Connect the printer to your computer. Learn how to use a USB cable or connect via Wi-Fi^® on the network.

 Specify the destination and the file name. Learn how to change the settings using the Canon IJ Scan Utility.

You can scan photos, postcards, visiting cards, magazines, newspapers, documents, and BD/DVD/CD.

Some items can't be properly scanned, including:

• A4 sized photos.

• Documents smaller than 5 inches x 7 inches (127 mm x 178 mm) such as a paperback with its backbone cut off.

• Originals on thin white paper.

• Long and narrow originals such as panoramic photographs.

 For OSX 10.12 Sierra users: Push button scanning isn't supported for USB cable-connected computers. Instead, use the IJ Scan utility.

Scan documents

1. Turn your printer ON, and tap Scan.

2. Choose the connected computer where your scanned images will be saved.

   • If your only connected computer is connected by a USB cable, see the scan standby screen and proceed to step 3.

     

   • To choose the destination computer, use the left or right arrow    buttons to select PC, then tap OK.

     

   • Use the up or down arrow   buttons to select the computer to save your scanned images, then tap OK.

     

3. Use the  left or right arrow    buttons to select the document type specified in Scan settings.

 You can select Auto scan when you save to a USB-connected computer.

• With Auto scan, the printer automatically detects the type of the originals and adjusts the scan settings to optimal size, resolution, and data format.

• If the scanning result with Auto scan isn't satisfactory, select Document or Photo.

4. Press the right Function button to adjust scan settings, such as the scan size, resolution, or data format. Use the up or down arrow   buttons to select the setting item or the  left or right arrow    buttons to specify the setting, then tap OK.

5. Load the original on the scanning glass or in the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF).

6. Select Color for color scanning, or Black for black & white scanning. The printer starts the scan.

• The program selection screen may display after you select Color or Black to start scanning.

  • In most cases you should select Canon IJ Scan Utility, but you may choose to send the scanned images to My Image Garden (not available for Windows XP).

 If you load the original on the glass surface and you select PDF or Compact PDF format, the printer will scan the original and ask if you want to scan another document. Load another page or select the left function button to exit.

7. When the scan completes, the scanned image files will save to your computer.

8. Don't forget to remove the original when you're finished.

 
Find saved scans on computer

1. From the main window of IJ Scan Utility, select the Settings button.

• Then, select the  Scanning from the Operation Panel tab  at the top of the Settings window.

2. From here, select either Save to PC (Auto), Save to PC (Photo), Save to PC (Document), Attach to E-mail (Photo), or Attach to E-mail (Document) on the left side of the window.

3. In the Save Settings area of this window, you will see Save in.  Here, you can specify where your scanned images will be saved to on your computer.

Good to know

My Image Garden allows you to edit the scanned images.

• In addition, you can crop, optimize, and print the scanned images.
