Try setting the
TX start speed slower than the maximum of 33600bps.
Receiving faxes - poor quality, noise on the line, or incomplete fax
Try setting the
RX start speed slower than the maximum of 33600bps.
Note: These steps may also help if your fax machine is connected to a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) phone line. Please contact your phone service provider if you're not sure if you subscribe to this type of phone service.
Steps
- Make sure your printer is on.
- Press Menu.
- Select Setup, then press OK.
- Select Device settings, then press OK.
- Use the

arrow buttons to scroll to Fax settings, then press OK.
- Scroll to Advanced FAX settings, then press OK.
- Scroll to Adv. communication settings, then press OK.
- Scroll to TX start speed OR RX start speed then press OK.
- Use the

arrow buttons to select a transmission start speed, then press OK. Available speeds include 33600 bps, 14400 bps, 9600 bps, and 4800 bps.
- Press the FAX button to return to standby mode.
