Description

Learn what to do when you can't find print options in Kindle Fire apps that should have them available.

Solution

Symptom

The print options on the Kindle Fire HD / HDX are built into the individual apps such as OfficeSuite, Email, etc. Some apps do not support printing, but if there is no print option from an app that should have it, then you may need to update the Kindle Fire's System Software.

Check for system updates

  • Updating the Kindle Fire's System software may be necessary depending on what version you currently have installed.
  • These updates may be sent to your device automatically as the Kindle Fire can check for updates periodically.

However, you can force the Kindle Fire to manually check for updates in the following manner.
  1. From the Kindle Fire home screen, swipe down from the very top of the screen.  This will pull down a menu that will include "Settings".
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Device.
  4. Tap System Updates.
  5. Take a look at the Current Version
If you're version is less than 13.3.1.0, then you should update.
  6. Tap Check Now.
Note:  Even if your version is 13.3.1.0 or later, you still may choose to tap "Check Now" to see if there is another update.

No update available

Amazon may be releasing updates gradually to users and therefore your system may not find any updates when checking.
