During Live View shooting, focusing takes time (EOS REBEL SL1 / EOS 100D)

Solution

NOTE
Icons used on this page:
<>: Setting button / [ ]: Live view shooting tab / [ (face)+Tracking]: (face)+Tracking AF / < >< >: Cross keys / <>: Quick Control button

In [ (Face)+Tracking], [FlexiZone - Multi], [FlexiZone - Single], focusing will take longer than with [Quick mode].
Set the [Quick mode] for quicker focusing.

In [Quick mode], the dedicated AF sensor is used to focus in One-Shot AF operation, using the same AF method as with viewfinder shooting. You can use nine AF points to focus (automatically selected). You can also select one AF point to focus and focus only the area covered by that AF point (manually selected).
The [Quick mode] setting procedure is explained below.
IMPORTANT
  • When [Quick mode] is set, [Continuous AF] cannot be set.
  • The [Quick mode] cannot be set for movie shooting.

1. Set the camera's power switch to <ON>.

2. Press the <MENU> button to display the menu.

3. Press the < > keys to select the [ ] tab. Press the < > keys to select [AF method, then press <>.

4. Select the [Quick mode], then press <>.
REFERENCE
While the Live View image is displayed, you can also press the <> button to select the AF method on the Quick Control screen. For more information, refer to the cameras Instruction Manual.
IMPORTANT
  • Although you can focus the target subject quickly, the Live View image will be interrupted momentarily during the AF operation.
  • You cannot take a picture during autofocusing. Take the picture while the Live View image is displayed.
