About print head cleaning
-
Perform a print head nozzle pattern. If lines are missing or if horizontal white streaks are present, you should perform a print head cleaning
-
Cleaning unclogs the nozzles and restores the print head condition.
-
Cleaning the print head consumes ink, so clean the print head only when necessary.
Steps for a cleaning
-
Turn the printer ON and load one or more sheets of Letter-sized plain paper in the lower cassette.
-
Open the paper output tray by holding the sides of the paper output tray.
-
Extend the paper output support.
-
Press MENU.
-
Select Setup, then press OK.
- Select Maintenance, then press OK.
- Select Cleaning, then press OK.
-
Select Yes, then press OK. The machine starts the cleaning. This takes about two minutes.
-
After the pattern print confirmation screen appears, select Yes, then press OK.
-
The nozzle check pattern prints. When the completion message appears, press OK.
-
Check the nozzle check pattern. If a color isn't printed properly, replace the ink tank.
Good to know
-
If the print quality still isn't correct, you can perform a deep cleaning.
-
If there are streaks on the print output, you can clean the bottom plate.
-
If after trying all of the above, the print quality is still poor, the print head may be damaged. Service is required.
