Learn how to perform a print head cleaning on your PIXMA MX922 printer to improve print quality.

Solution

About print head cleaning

  • Perform a print head nozzle pattern. If lines are missing or if horizontal white streaks are present, you should perform a print head cleaning

  • Cleaning unclogs the nozzles and restores the print head condition.

  • Cleaning the print head consumes ink, so clean the print head only when necessary.

Steps for a cleaning

  1. Turn the printer ON and load one or more sheets of Letter-sized plain paper in the lower cassette.

  2. Open the paper output tray by holding the sides of the paper output tray.

  3. Extend the paper output support.

  4. Press MENU.

  5. Select Setup, then press OK.

  8. Select Yes, then press OK. The machine starts the cleaning. This takes about two minutes.

  9. After the pattern print confirmation screen appears, select Yes, then press OK

  10. The nozzle check pattern prints. When the completion message appears, press OK.

  11. Check the nozzle check pattern. If a color isn't printed properly, replace the ink tank.

Good to know

  • If the print quality still isn't correct, you can perform a deep cleaning.

  • If there are streaks on the print output, you can clean the bottom plate.

  • If after trying all of the above, the print quality is still poor, the print head may be damaged. Service is required.
