Description

This article provides information on how to connect your PIXMA MG3520 / MG3522 to a wireless router using the Cableless setup method.

 

Solution

Wireless LAN connection of your printer to an access point in the "Cableless setup" method

For Mac OS X users, see Mac OS X

 

  1. Make sure that the printer is powered on.
    If the printer is powered on, the (green) POWER lamp (A) will be lit.



     Important:
     
    • Quit all applications before installation.
       
    • Log on using an administrator account.
       
    • Internet connection may be required during the installation. Connection fees apply.

       
  2. Insert the CD-ROM into the computer.
    The setup program will run (start) automatically.
  • If the setup program does not start automatically:
    Double-click (My) Computer > CDROM icon > MSETUP4.EXE.
  • Click Run Msetup4.exe on the AutoPlay screen, then click Yes or Continue on the User Account Control dialog box.
     
  • If the User Account Control dialog box reappears in following steps, click Yes or Continue.


 Note:
  • If your computer does not have a CD-ROM drive or you do not have the Setup CD, click here, then click Download.  Run the file after it has downloaded, then proceed to the next step.  If you are asked to provide permission to run the file, click Yes or the appropriate affirmative option.

 

  1. Click Next.


     
  2. Click Wireless Connection.


     
  3. Click Connect to the network.


     
  4. Click Cableless setup.


     
  5. At the Connection via Cableless setup window (step 4-1), the interactive Setup Guide on your computer screen will prompt you to press and hold down the Wi-Fi button (B) (as shown in the animated illustration below) on the printer until the (orange) Alarm lamp (C) flashes twice then release it.
    After you've held down the button and released it on the second flash (as shown in the animated illustration below), click Next on the Setup Guide window.




     
  6. At the Connection via Cableless setup window (step 4-2), check the printer to make sure the (green) POWER lamp is lit as shown below, then click Next on the Setup Guide window.
    You will notice the Wi-Fi lamp (D) (as shown in the animated illustration below) will flash blue.





     Note:
    • If the .NET Framework screen appears, click Yes.



       
  7. Click Next.



     Note:
    • Easy-WebPrint EX
      Easy-WebPrint EX is Web print software that is installed on the computer when installing the supplied software. Internet Explorer 7 or later (Windows) is required to use this software. An Internet connection is required for installation.
       
  8. Follow any on-screen instructions to proceed with the software installation.
     
  9. When the Setup Completion dialog box appears, click Complete.


     
  10. Click Next.




     Important:
    • If the Extended Survey Program screen appears:


       
      • If you can agree to Extended Survey Program, click Agree.
      • If you click Do not agree, the Extended Survey Program will not be installed.
        (This has no effect on the machine's functionality.)

         
  11. When the Test Print window is displayed:


     
    1. Test printing will be performed to check the printer's operation.
       
    2. Load plain paper into the printer and click Execute.
       
    3. After test printing, click Next.
       
    4. To skip test printing, click Next instead of Execute.
       
  12. Click Exit to complete the installation.
    Remove the Setup CD-ROM and keep it in a safe place.


     
  13. Quick Menu will launch.

Mac OS X:

  1. Make sure that the printer is powered on.
    If the printer is powered on, the (green) POWER lamp (A) will be lit.



     Important:
    • Quit all applications before installation.
       
    • If your Mac is running macOS version 10.12 or later, the software that can be obtained in step 2 will not run on your computer.  You will need to use the IJ Network Tool to configure the printer for wireless use.  Click here to go to the support page for your printer.  Download and install the IJ Network Tool, then click here for instructions on setting up your printer for wireless use with a USB cable and the IJ Network Tool.
       
  2. Click here, then click Download.
     
  3. Once the file is downloaded, double-click the .dmg file.
     
  4. Double-click the Setup icon.


     
  5. Click Next.


     
  6. In the subsequent screen, enter the administrator name and password. Then click Install Helper.


     
  7. Click Next.


     
  8. Click Wireless Connection.


     
  9. Click Connect to the network.


     
  10. Click Cableless setup.


     
  11.   15. Click Add Printer.




     Note:
     
    • The alphanumeric characters after "Canon xxx series" is the machines Bonjour service name or MAC address.
      If the machine is not detected, make sure of the following.
      • The machine is turned on.
      • The firewall function of any security software is turned off.
      • The computer is connected to the access point.

         
  16. Select 'Canon xxx series Canon IJ Network' and click Add.




     Important:
    • If you're installing the Canon printer driver on Mac OS X and are using the printer through a network connection, you can select Bonjour or Canon IJ Network in the Add Printer dialog.
    • If Bonjour is selected, remaining ink level messages may differ from those indicated by Canon IJ Network.
    • Canon recommends you to use Canon IJ Network for printing.

       
  17. Click Next.


     
  18. Click Next.




     Important:
