Learn how to adjust the Power and Auto Power settings on your PIXMA MG3520 or MG3522 from your computer.

 

Solution

Your PIXMA MG3520 or MG3522 allows you to manage the printer power from your computer.

Follow the instructions below for your computer Operating System.

From a Mac®

  1. Select Power Settings from the menu on the Canon IJ Printer Utility

  2. Select Power Off, then OK.


From Windows

  1. Open the printer driver setup window.

  2. Select Power Off on the Maintenance tab, then OK. The machine power switches off, and the Maintenance tab displays again.

With this feature, you can set:

  • Auto Power On - automatically turns the machine on when data is received.

  • Auto Power Off - automatically turns the machine off after a period of no activity.


From a Mac

  1. Select Power Settings from the menu on the Canon IJ Printer Utility.

  2. Check that the machine is on, then select Auto Power.

  3. If necessary, complete the following settings:

    • Auto Power On - Choose Enable from the list.

    • Auto Power Off - Specify the period of no activity before the printer automatically turns off.

  4. Apply the settings. The Auto Power on/off functions are now set. To disable a function, select Disable from the list according to the same procedure.


From Windows

  1. Open the printer driver setup window.

  2. Make sure that the machine is on and then select the Auto Power on the Maintenance tab.

  3. The Auto Settings dialogue box appears. If necessary, complete the following settings:

    • Auto Power On - Choose Enable from the list.

    • Auto Power Off - Specify the period of no activity before the printer automatically turns off.

  4. Click OK. When the confirmation message appears, click OK again.

  5. ​The Maintenance tab displays again. The Auto Power ON / OFF functions are now set. To disable a function, use the same procedure to select Disable from the list.


Important to know

  • Auto Power is only available when connected via USB.

  • ​If the printer is off or if communication between the printer and the computer is disabled, an error message may appear.

  • If you connect the printer to a wireless network, you can set Auto Power Off, but the power won't switch off automatically.

  • If you use the Power Off function on the printer, you won't be able to turn the machine on from your computer.

  • When the machine is turned off, the status monitor message varies depending on the Auto Power On setting.

  • When the setting is Enable, Printer is standing by displays.

  • When the setting is Disable, Printer is offline displays.
