Description

Learn how to clear Support Code 6502 from a PIXMA MG series printer.

Solution

Cause

If you see Support Code 6502, it means that there is a problem with the ink tank position sensor.

Action

Follow these steps to clear the error:
  1. Turn the printer OFF, and unplug the power cord from the power supply.

  2. Lift the operation panel to see the inside of the printer.

  3. Plug the printer back in and turn it on with the operation panel lifted.

  4. If the carriage moves to the left and right, unplug the power cord from the printer's power supply while the carriage is moving. If the carriage doesn't move, skip to step 4.

  5. Remove all the ink tanks.

  6. Lower the operation panel and plug the power cord into the printer's power supply.

  7. Turn the printer ON without the inks installed.

  8. If the printer indicates that the ink tanks aren't recognized, lift the operation panel.

  9. Check the contacts on the bottom of each ink tank. If any of them look dirty, use a cotton swab to wipe them off.

  10. Insert each ink tank after they are inspected.

  11. Lower the operation panel.

  12. If the error still occurs, replace the ink tanks.
