Before you begin
-
If your printer output quality is low, first try a standard print head cleaning. For instructions, see Clean the print head - MX922.
-
If you continue to see poor quality output, you can perform a deep clean of the print head.
The deep clean process uses additional ink.
Steps for a deep cleaning
-
Turn on the printer and load one or more sheets of letter-sized plain paper in the lower tray (cassette).
-
Hold the sides of the paper output tray and open it.
-
Extend the paper output support.
-
Press MENU.
-
Select Setup , then OK.
-
Select Maintenance , then OK.
-
Select Deep cleaning, then OK.
-
Select Yes, then OK. The machine starts the deep cleaning process. This takes about two minutes.
-
After the pattern print confirmation screen appears, select Yes, then OK.
-
The nozzle check pattern prints. When the completion message appears, press OK.
-
Examine the output.
Check the nozzle check pattern. If a color isn't printed properly, replace the ink tank.
Good to know
-
If the output quality still isn't correct, you can perform a second deep clean after 24 hours.
-
If there are streaks on the print output, you can clean the bottom plate.
-
If, after trying all of the above, the print quality is still poor, the print head may be damaged. Service is required
