Description

Learn how to connect your PIXMA MG6620 printer to your home network using the WPS push button method.

Solution

WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup™) allows you to connect your printer to a wireless network even if you don't know the wireless network name (SSID). All you need is a Wi-Fi® router that supports WPS.

Note If your wireless router / access point does not have a WPS button on it, the printer can be connected to the network via Standard Setup, or Cableless Setup.

Use WPS to set up your printer

  1. Check your router for a WPS symbol (see the example below). If you see this symbol, continue with the connection process. If you need help with this, check the manual or online instructions for your router.

Follow the instructions below to set up your connection to the wireless network.

  1. Swipe across the touch screen display area, then tap WLAN.

  2. The printer searches for a wireless router. If a WPS-compatible access point is detected, the following screen appears. Tap Start setup.

To start setup, tap Start setup

Note If this screen does not appear, tap WPS (Push button method), then OK. Proceed to step 3.

  3. Press and hold the WPS button on the router (about 5 seconds), then tap OK on the printer within 2 minutes.

Press and hold the WPS button on the access point (router) then tap OK.

  4. Tap OK when Connected to the access point appears.

Note If a timeout error screen appears, tap OK , then start over from Step 3.

  5. The connection is complete. You need to install the software on your computer using the setup CD or the setup file available for download.
The setup file is available for Windows and macOS® 10.6.8 - 10.11.

Note If your Mac® is running macOS® 10.12 or later, you will need to download the drivers and software from the Canon USA website.
