Description

For the fax machine to work effectively, it must be set to the proper receive mode.

Receive mode options

Determine the receive mode that best suits your needs. From the receive mode menu, select from the following.

Receive Mode Main Use Operation Requirements
Fax/Tel Mode Fax/Tel Automatically switch between fax and voice calls. Faxes will be received automatically, and the machine will ring for voice calls. A telephone connected to your machine will not ring.*
MANUAL MODE Tel Copier/fax rings for every call, whether a fax call or a voice call. For a fax call, you have to manually activate reception of the fax. Extension phone connected to the copier/fax.
FAX ONLY MODE Fax Copier/fax answers all calls as fax calls. It receives faxes automatically and disconnects voice calls. Separate telephone line for fax use only.
ANS.MACHINE MODE Fax/Tel Copier/fax receives faxes automatically, and the answering machine records voice messages. Answering machine connected to the and the answering copier/fax.
DRPD Fax/Tel Allows you to have separate fax and telephone numbers which you distinguish by the type of ring.

Subscription to a DRPD service. Extension phone connected to the copier/fax.

 

 

  1. Connect the supplied telephone line to the [L] jack on the copier/fax, then connect the other end of the line to the telephone jack on your wall.


     
  2. Connect the line from your telephone to the extension jack, the one marked with a handset icon.


     
  3. Connect the line from an extension phone, answering machine, or data modem to the middle jack.

On the operation panel, press the following buttons to select the appropriate receive mode.

  1. Press <Receive Mode> repeatedly to select the appropriate receive mode.
     
  2. Press <Start>.
    The fax returns to standby mode.
